It is given how to process a full resolution map into 4Xn or 6Xn tiles for viewing on an ipod.A program code is given for doing this which runs on python. Can anyone tell me the detailed steps to run this code on python because I have no idea how to use python.Or is there any alternative for processing a map into tiles of required size through any software which splits an image into required tiles.

Get Python from here: http://www.python.org/download/

Put the script you got from that website somewhere where the image you want to break down.

Make sure the python executable is in your path and then call it something like this:

python scriptName.py param1 param2 param3

Then just take these images and put them in a folder that is set to sync with your iPod.

Once you have your image in a folder then open up a command prompt and type:

ipodTiles -t nano imageFileName.jpg

It looks like it creates a bunch of imageFileName_1_1.jpg, imageFileName_1_2.jpg, etc.

Put these in an empty/new folder in whatever folder you have that syncs pictures to your ipod.

You will need to make sure that python is in your environment PATH. If you are on a Mac, it already is.
