Does Yahoo/Google Maps API have feature where user can set a location manually by clicking map image?

I'd like users to be able to select a location on a map image and then to save that location for other users to view/get directions, etc. Users would not know addresses or gps coordinates, so manually selecting a point on the map and saving that point would be ideal. Is this possible?

Thanks!

No problem.

At the top right of the map is a

"Link this page" hyperlink. This gives exact URL to get to the same co-ordinates. For best results, right click on mouse over desired position and click on "Centre map here" before clicking on "Link this Page".

If you want Google Earth info, then feel free to ask!
Reply:In the case of the Google Maps API, you can do this a couple of ways. The easiest is to save the GMarker point to an XML file via AJAX, then populate the map with GMarkers based on a read of the XML file.

It's all explained in the Google Maps API reference, which unfortunately Yahoo! will not let me link here.
Reply:yes, it is possible if you install google earth. it is free. you can find it here: http://earth.google.com/
