Google maps does show direcrions. You have to do is click get directions and enter in both addresses and then you have it.

I saw on the new yesterday (I live in Philippines) and iPhone is comming out here in September with carriers, and my dad said he'd get me one if he could use the GPS or Google maps on it, and I've heard it does have Maps on it, but I was wondering if it could be used internationally, because we live in Asia and we visit the US every year, and we don't want to keep borrowing GPSs from relatives.

I do this trip twice yearly Dover to Dunkirk follow E40 through to aachen belgium/ germany border follow the A3 Frankfurt am. Wurzburg. Regensburg and then the Austrian /German border.Follow road through Austria the new vienna underground bypass is now open. Dont forget to buy the toll or you pay 100 euro fine. On leaving Vienna look out for the Budapest road it is signposted which takes you through into Hungary. Dont forget the toll Remember you need to get through Budapest early like 06.00 am or you will be there forever.There are three border crossings which are all very easy . valea-Lui Mihai. Petea. And Oradea It takes us three days to travel Stopping once in Germany once in Hungary and then into Romania. Good luck any problems e-mail

Why can't I see street view on Google maps?
It was so easy before all I had to do was click on one of those buttons on the upper right hand corner. Now, I guess they removed it. Why? But, earlier I was checking out downtown Chicago and I don't know what I clicked on but it got me see the street view. It was amazing! I have pulled maps into other programs before... typically InDesign or Illustrator but it should be the same idea. You need to make the map an art file (ie: jpg) and import it in. If you cannot drag the image you want onto your desktop then you can always take a screenshot, then convert the image into a MS word friendly format (jpg would be easiest). Then place the picture file in to the document as you would with any clip art - under the Insert menu

I have used both Google earth and google maps, also MS Earth to do some searches but it seems they are way behind with their updates. recently some parts of the uk have been added to google maps street level and i've never heard so much complaining about "privacy invasion" other countries have this do they complain or is it a british disease?

Yeah, I can see my house on Google Earth. My house isn't covered by anything and we have a car in the driveway. You can also see that our pool is closed. If you type my address in, though, it just brings you to my street. You need to mess around with the map a little bit to get to my house, but yeah, you can see it. The picture is old, though. We've changed our driveway (and gotten a different car) since it was taken.
When Google Earth first came out, you could type in the Pentagon and it would show you a picture of the top of the building in which you could see where the dumpsters were placed, etc. I don't know if they kept that in there, but it seemed like a stupid thing to do.

But, DON'T jailbreak it. Very risky. I'm sure you've already informed yourself about jailbreaking.
Reply:ok what ever the guy said about jailbreaking your ipod its one of the most simple ways to get everything! wallpapers and even the iphone apps(which is what your asking about)just follow the directions on youtube, do exactly as they do haha and it will be the jesus touch. or you can be lame and pay apple 20$ for apps that arent worth it. and in case if you do jailbreak it and something does go wrong(1/5000%) just click restore to factory settings.

What's this weird Google Maps object in Libya?
At approximately 27* 39' north, 22* 30' east (I think that's right), there's some kind of great big cloud of smoke and fireballs in Eastern Libya. Looks like an airport or something. Does anyone know what happened?
What's more, there's big fields of huge green dots slightly to the east. Anybody know what those are?

Why are yahoo and google maps soo off ?
When I put in homes I have lived in, like now, the maps are off. Like now, it has my house 1/4 of a mile down the street. The maps are supposed to be better than that.

If you zoom in you should be able to see an aerial view of your neighbourhood, if there is an orange man to the right (just where you change the zoom) then click him and drag him in and you should get the street photos. My street hasn't been put on yet, so I can't do that.

There is no specified time frame within which all satellite photos get updated. Some satellite photos of well known cities (eg. Dubai) have not been updated in at least a year, and some photos have not been updated in several years.

Here is my top google clear search tip for you...click in to your google search...click the last search.....use the back arrow so the cursor is at the beginning of the word..then hold down the down arrow and at the same time press Del key till all history is gone.and will work this way in all searches
or you can hover your cursor on single letters once selected then delete.

Customize Google maps for my own website?
If someone comes on to my website I want them to be able to search for specific locations on Google Maps inside my site that I setup, if you check out ononemap.com, this uses the same idea about showing where houses are for sale in the UK, type in your post code and you'll see what I mean.

Then copy the resulting URL from the address bar of the browser. Then use THAT url as a link in the website. The website visitor can then explore from there. (With Google maps you can also set several locations on the same map and have the little pointers showing up. Do it, and copy THAT URL for linking.) Works like a champ.

Why does the definition for Google Earth maps vary in the UK and are they likely to improve in my area?
Does the definition (clarity) vary because they don't want to release all the data/ they want to sell it, or is it just a question of time before all areas will have the same clarity?

-settings then general scroll down to international region format. Now the best one will be united states because we use miles instead of Km so just set it to United States and it will go back

I was checking out my address on google maps and WOW! there was a picture of my house. I was F, "en " around and started to hit arrows and "WTF" i had a view of the street lights and the sky??????? I've heard of the eye in the sky like in the casinos you know, but it was really wierd to see the sky view. How the hell did Google do it? Did they go around all over the world and take pics from every street at every angle????

All the things that I said takes less than 10 minutes if you know what you are doing. That's the easiest way. nope. the Google maps are used to search the addresses.
its not a problem its good for you so that you can show your house for every one. if you want a privacy on the Google maps . you do not put the information on the Google maps.

i remember one time a couple of years ago i typed in a phone number in google and it gave me the address but now when i try to do it again it tells me its not found did they take this feature out or something?

I can't recall exactly when this happened. I use IE7 for 90% of my internet activities, but can't get google maps to show a route right. The maps part works fine, but the routes don't appear aligned with the roads. I think it might be the IE7 scaling feature, but can't get it working.

I was looking at a map of movie locations and would like to visit some of them, but the street addresses aren't listed. Is there a way to transfer the map data to my gps without having an address or the Latitude and Longitude?

According to google, They update their mapping data that is older than 3 years old, They even have a form which you have fill in to have specific sections of the images updated.

I live in a house that is approximately 6 years old. It is right off of a main street and only 2 miles from a sizeable city. However, my address does not show up on Google Maps, Yahoo Maps, etc. Both neighbors on either side of me have addresses that show up, but mine does not. Honestly, you can't. They get their map information from a national mapping service, essentially. And these services are only updated very seldomly. There's nothing you can do, I'm afraid.

Maps requires a WiFi connection that's why it doesn't work when youre not connected to the internet.
And your location probably cant be determined because WiFi is lot less accurate way of determining your location compared to the iPhone's cell tower triangulation or the iPhone 3G's GPS.

So they just drive around the city while the cameras on top take pictures. So they get a full 360 degree round view. Because the Cameras make a circle getting every view possible. Then they use a image editing software and stitch the photos together (i.e. photoshop, panorama maker) then they save the images and upload them to google streets.

It will work IF your phone is Tri/Quad band. However, GoogleMaps requires internet connection to load maps. If you are going to be roaming in Europe, your wireless bill will be huge (Check below for AT%26amp;T Roaming calculator).
If your phone is Windows Mobile based, you can buy a third party GPS application such as TomTom. This application holds all map data on a SD card and doesn't require data connection.
The GPS receiver in your phone itself, WILL work anywhere in the world as it is a global system.

How Do I Go About Getting Google, Yahoo Etc Maps to Delete a Street That Doesn't Exist?
Every time I look on these online maps, they show a road that doesn't exist cutting straight through our property. We get quite a few turnarounds here from people who think our dead-end road goes through to another road. I assure them they have reached private property, but it keeps happening and these maps show a public road through our private land. How can I contact them and get them to change this on their maps?
How Do I Go About Getting Google, Yahoo Etc Maps to Delete a Street That Doesn't Exist?
Put up a very big "No Through Road" sign with another one saying "Your navigation system has a wrong map, get a refund"
Basically, you can not get it changed. The road probably exists in some subdivision plan somewhere that was used to enter the data to provide the basis for the maps.
Alternatively, someone has made a mistake, but it will take time to come through and those old maps will still be out there.
If you were in Australia, you should talk to your local council as they will be the original source of the data that was amalgamated to create the maps. They approve sub-divisions, then enter it into their GIS system, then pass it onto the service providers like electrictiy, water, sewerage, etc.
Note, Google Earth was using some road data in Sydney, Australia that was at least 15 years old. It was so out of place that I recognised the data set.
Lastly, your non-existent road may have been deliberately entered to catch people who copy the data. A lot of street directories (including online) have deliberate mistakes for this purpose.
Google, etc maps of our local train station show a road crossing across the line that has not existed for 15 years.
