Can save maps on this app and have a map from Vancouver to Seattle saved on it? Can you save it even further distances???

yes to both questions. what i do is do a screen shot ( press the power button and home button at the same time) and that will be in your picture file in the home screen.
to zoom out on google maps, press one finger on the screen of map. hold it there and get another finger and do a counterclockwise direction with your second finger, that's how to zoom out
