Satellite pics of Yahoo, Google, MSN maps - How old are they?

When did they take the satellite pictures?

The image of my house does not show updated status after renovation.

Also, unrecognisable car is parking on the drive way.

Spooky!
Satellite pics of Yahoo, Google, MSN maps - How old are they?
It depends on what part of the world you are lookin at. Some, 8 years old or older! Most are at least three years old. Most all sites use images from landsat or other government survey satellites. Some are arial photos but the government rarely releases these photos until they have been scrutinzed for at least 3 years.
Reply:the reason is quite simple

the pics are 3 -4 years old...even i don see my newly constructed home.....
Reply:As everyone else has said they are of varying ages. As you can imagine with the size of the task it takes a while to update an are , so each area is a different age. People have asked why if they are satellite views of the Earth they are not current. There are current views but these are restricted to government security. If the whole Google Earth site was live it would mean that burglars could watch for you going out and then target your home with no risk. The Internet is a wonderful thing but someone will always abuse it.
Reply:My house image has me standing in the garage doorway. I've not been home for over 3 months.
Reply:lol...yes, those pictures are a not live at all...not even close...some can be up to a year or so....
