Copyright Law Question with Google Maps/Earth?

I using Google Maps for a school project. I am citing the map source as Google Maps under each image I use. Am I violating the United States Copyright Law?
Copyright Law Question with Google Maps/Earth?
This is definately an example of the fair use doctrine. First, you are using the work for a scholarly purpose. Second, you are using only a portion of the text, and giving credit. This is precisely, and entirely, within the scope and purpose of the fair use doctrine.
Reply:Gosh, you worry about the silliest things. If you use any Publications (including Newspapers, periodicals) and do not name your source - then perhaps you'd be in hot water. If you quote something from a book, and you include the authors name and which book it was from - you're NOT in trouble. If you include 3 paragraphs from that book in an essay and don't name the author - then you can be charged w/plagerism. Since you're going to state your material is from a public source; ie Mapquest (google) you're ok.
Reply:Yes, that is fair use under the law. Attribute the images properly and you're fine, both academically and legally.
