How does google maps do it?

When you view the street version on google maps the images are unreal...I am just curious as to how they get such great images for this feature on their site. Thanks!
How does google maps do it?
They drive around in one of these and take pics:

Reply:They drive around in a van with a huge camera on it. The camera actually has several lenses on it taking millions of pics throughout the neighborhood. It will then convert it to a Panaromic scene, which transforms it into what you see.
Reply:They bye the images from a company that drives around vws and prisuses with 360 degree cameras on top. If you pan down sometiems you can see the cars. They might own the cars, but at first they out sourced it.
Reply:They've got cars that drive around with cameras mounted on top. The cameras take pictures in all directions, and they take a new set of photos every 20 feet or so. Then the magic of software puts them all together.
