Driving to Fort Polk Army Base from Houston--Google maps says to take LA-467?

But from the looks of the map, it doesnt look familiar from when i went there the first time.


Is LA-467 the road off of which you turn to the left to go into the main gates? Im a little confused on the directions...

Hi.. I actually just got back from Fort polk, LA. and I am from the baytown area. right by houston.. I took I-10 East until you get to lake charles, LA. and then from there you get on 171 north, and its a straight shot up to fort polk.. just look for signs on the road that tell you when to turn into fort polks gates.. Its easy can't miss it.. Be careful cause the first gate is for army trucks and things and then the second one you come to will be for visitors and all others.. Just follow signs.. when your on 171 north, once you get into the town of deridder, just keep watching signs cause it can get confusing, but stay on 171 north till you get to fort polk.. and its not long after deridder.. Continue on E1st/ US171/ US190 (1.9miles)


turn Right at Pine and go 12.9 miles





Turn Right at Forestry/ La 10 go 3.6 miles





Turn Left at Alabama ave





I think this should bring yoou to the main gates but I'm not sure. I've been out there twice but I was comming from the oppsite direction very late at night.

I know it says "nokia_standard" but you could also try the blackberry version because that usually does a good job of finding your exact location relative to where you are.

I noticed that it was updated recently but when did they update it?
When did they update Google Maps?
They try to update it every 3 years or so, in cycles. But this can change.





I do not know when they last updated it, because they update different sections at different times.





They also recently released a new version of Google Earth.

Google maps GPS cannot trace my location ?

I am using a windows mobile. In that i use Google maps. In the google maps program, an option is ' use GPS ? ' and if i activate it, there is no difference. I have a GPRS connection, and it says ' My location " is currently not available

the GPS connection must really comes from your carrier and not from the google. and some cases, if location cannot be displayed or not available, it also means that your cellphone is not a high powered CP. take note: not all cellphones that has GPS feature can display the map. it will depend on the transmission from your service provider and your CP.


it had happened to a friend who has a GPS equipped CP but it won't display the map. he could always receive, not available, or out of coverage, while mine can be displayed right way in a matter of seconds. complete details of the place, like the name of the shop where i am, the address, tel # of that shop and the exact map and location. also it will display the compass like N87 W65 S80 E90, something like that. you can also request surroundings and near area within the range of 1km or 2km. then if you want it to be printed, you just saved the location and send it to your PC for printing. or you may bring it to the photo developing center. (it's what i have lol)

Google maps does not work, all I get is a grey area but I can move around in the grey area?


I am running it under firefox browser in Kubuntu (Linux). Load images and Javascript is switched on in preferences.

Google maps does not have a set updating schedule....most maps are about 1-3 years old...though they are constantly doing updates to different places on a regular basis and adding to their database...

If you want to download using your mobile browser you will have to open google search page in which you can directly download google maps by selecting your hand set's model number.
