Which is better for developers, Google Maps or Live Search Maps?
I would prefer Google Maps API over Windows Live Map API. Both have similar APIs.
Google Maps - pros: Has lot more features, has a large development community via google groups, easy to get any help, many useful open source libraries are being created (like dragzoom, egeoxml..), supports both georss and kml standards. Has Street view
Windows Live Maps - pros: Does not require any API key to integrate on any website, unlike google and yahoo maps which require you to get API key for every website you put the map on (not a big issue though). Has high quality birds eye view images available.
Reply:Google Maps is faster for users and simple to integrate.
Live Search Maps can be sluggish for some people and may be a bit more difficult to integrate. Both have very user-friendly interfaces, but Live Search Maps offers higher quality satellite images.

Why is Alaska so big in Google Maps?
In part because it IS big, and in part because the maps there, when looking at the world map, appears to be a Mercator-type projection, which makes the areas toward the poles look bigger than they really are.
Why is Alaska so big in Google Maps?
There's always a problem when you try to map a curved surface onto a flat map, something must be distorted. Google maps may use a traditional Mercator projection which distorts things more the further they are from the equator and so it makes Alaska look the same size as Brazil when, in reality, it is five times smaller.
Edit: Alaska is approx. one fifth the area of the lower 48, not one half as someone thought

Is 'Google Maps' for mobile phone totally free? And does Your network charge you anything to run google maps?
it is kinda free but you only pay to download it

You only pay the cost of data to download the program and the cost of the data of downloading the maps/satellite pictures.
Reply:Assuming you have unlimited data bundle on your account/contract, it is free. Every time you use it, you are connecting to the internet to download the information. So it is your network that will be charging you.
On 3, I added a Internet Max bundle for 5 pounds. So I can use it and it will not cost me more than 5 pounds a month. If you have an iPhone contract, the data bundle is already included as well.

Type in from New York, New York with a destination of Paris, France. Then look at line 24!

How does google maps get street views? i mean can a satellite reallly do that?
Street Views are created by third party companies who actually drive down the street with special cameras that are always taking pictures. Thats why if you notice a lot of streets do not have street views yet.
